I'm a veteran "pen and paper" role-player, who's recently moved to Victoria. I grew up on AD&D, branched out to other genres, but still mostly play fantasy. I'm looking to meet some like minds in town and find a new group of regulars to hang with.
Being a veteran "pen and paper" role-player, I've played so many different games over the past 20 years. I grew up on AD&D, branched out into pretty much every genre out there, but still mostly play fantasy genre. I've never LARPed and don't really have the interest to, and have never played miniature / war games -- I've stuck mostly to traditional role-playing games. That said, I also enjoy a good board game session. I also branch out in the nerd universe occasionally to some computer gaming, online M:TG, sci-fi and fantasy movies and literature, etc.
I don't necessarily have a favorite game, but I'm most familiar with the following games: D&D 3.5, Role Master, Spacemaster, HARP, Cyberspace, White Wolf, classic Star Wars, M:TG, Arkham Horror, Axis & Allies, and Talisman.
Again, fantasy genre has been my bread and butter for years and years, and so I guess I would say that's my "favorite". However, some of my most memorable and enjoyable campaigns were in the genres of Cyberpunk/Cyberspace, Sci-Fi, Star Wars, and Vampire/Werewolf. I'm down with some board and card games as well.
I'm looking to meet some new friends and join up with a group of regulars for some ongoing role-playing campaigns and/or board gaming! I have been known to game-master a role-playing campaign or two, but mostly am an involved and appreciative player. I'm always willing to meet new people and am always willing to help newcomers learn a system or style of play. For role-playing campaigns, I prefer a mix of plot, atmosphere, character interaction and development, with some action, but I've also enjoyed more theme-y, social and character-based campaigns. The one style I tire of very easily is rote hack-and-slash, mechanics-only "dungeon crawl" campaigns. That's not really for me. I'm an easy-going guy and am looking for a easy-going and fun-loving group. I'm a family man and they take priority, so I can't pull off the all-nighters like I used to. That said, I do have a fairly flexible schedule and can meet some weekday nights or possibly on the weekend.
